CHARLOTTE: Welcome to our podcast, 'Unlocking Creative Potential.' I'm your host, Charlotte, and I'm thrilled to be here today with Ryan, our guest expert in the world of ceramics and pottery glaze recipes. Ryan, thanks so much for joining me. RYAN: Thanks, Charlotte. It's a pleasure to be here. CHARLOTTE: Today, we're going to dive into the Undergraduate Certificate in Developing Your Own Pottery Glaze Recipes. Ryan, can you tell us a little bit about what drew you to this field, and what you think the benefits are of taking this course? RYAN: Absolutely. I've been working in ceramics for years, and I've seen firsthand the impact that a unique glaze can have on a piece of pottery. Being able to create your own glazes gives you an incredible amount of creative freedom, and it really sets your work apart from others in the field. This course teaches students the science behind glaze formulation, as well as the practical skills they need to start experimenting and creating their own glazes. CHARLOTTE: That's fascinating. I know that many of our listeners are probably thinking, 'But I'm not a chemist – how can I possibly create my own glazes?' Can you speak to that a bit? How does the course break down the complex chemistry of glaze formulation in a way that's accessible to artists? RYAN: Yeah, definitely. The course is designed to be hands-on and practical, so students get to experiment with different glaze formulations and see the results firsthand. We also break down the chemistry into manageable chunks, so students can understand how different variables affect the final product. It's really amazing to see students go from being intimidated by the chemistry to feeling confident and empowered to create their own glazes. CHARLOTTE: That sounds incredible. What about career opportunities? What kinds of jobs or careers can graduates of this course pursue? RYAN: Well, the possibilities are really endless. Graduates can go on to become professional ceramic artists, of course, but they can also work as glaze technicians in studios or factories, or even teach ceramics and glaze development to others. The demand for skilled ceramic artists and technicians is really high, so graduates of this course are in a great position to launch their careers. CHARLOTTE: That's fantastic. Let's talk a bit about the practical applications of the course. What kinds of projects can students expect to work on, and how will they be able to apply their new skills in their own studios or careers? RYAN: Students in the course will work on a range of projects, from creating simple glazes to more complex, experimental formulations. They'll also have the opportunity to work on their own projects, applying the skills and techniques they've learned to their own ceramics practice. By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio of their own glaze recipes and a solid understanding of how
